We are currently using 8.0.4.4 with OAS and the standalone Workflow 2.0.3, on an NT server (4.0, SP5). We are not using Mail Notification, but are using Workflow Monitor on a webpage. We do NOT have Oracle Apps installed. We are also using external procedures. I am new to OAS and Workflow and have a couple of questions....

1. Is there some process in either Workflow or OAS that needs to be shutdown before the database is shutdown (including services) and re-started after the database is started up? It seems if you do a shutdown of the database and stop the service, (to do a backup, for instance) when the service is re-started and the database is started up, there are problems and they end up re-booting the server.

2. I have seen white papers that imply standalone Workflow will work with either WebDB or OAS. One of the other DBAs here says that Workflow Monitor will not work with WebDB. It seems like WebDB is easier to work with than OAS. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I am having a hard time finding documentation that tells how these products can work together.

TIA
