Hi there,
We have an pb6.0 app that contains about 15-20 .pbls and about 150 objects. We are thinking of upgrading to pb8.0 for the next release. I was curious if anyone has upgraded from 6.0 to 8.0 before and they had some info on how it went. I realize that it will vary from project to project but any information would be great.
thanks,

polyg,

I recently upgraded a powerbuilder 6.5 application. I encountered no messages during the upgrade. Following compile, all appeared to work fine. During subsequent testing, we found one problem in the code that failed under PB8 that worked ok in PB6.5. PB8 is a little less forgiving on weak coding. Overall, the update went very smoothly following the procedures as outlined from the Sybase website. Just back up your PB6 code and give it a try. PowerBuilder will let you know if there are any major problems. I understand that it is possible for PB8 to not bring in all of the code during the update but we did not experience this problem. Our application is used on W95/W98/W2K and XP.
