I have had many discussions/arguments around the topic of what exactly is included in an extended ACL that has

"permit ip <host/net> <host/net>"

Specifically does it include ICMP or just TCP/UDP? Any other services like GRE or anything?

I am having a heck of a time finding anything documented as such.

Thanks,
po

It includes all of the above. It allows the IP protocol, so that would include tcp/udp/gre/etc.
