I'm one of those VB guys who has returned to his FoxPro roots for a while. I noticed that when an error occurs in a VFP 6.0 app, the code window does not allow you to make changes to your code and resume by re-running the offending line of code.

Does anyone know if VFP 7.0 has any plans to allow the developer to suspend a program, fix a line or two in the window, and resume program execution without having to restart the entire application?

Hello.

No. This is not possible in VFP 7.0 beta 1. Maybe in the final product, but it's very improbable.

Hope this helps. Grigore Dolghin

I was wondering if VFP actually does some sort of compile to the project before it runs- thus explaining the inability to fix errors and resume running the code. Does anybody know?

Thanks again my friend for sharing your time and VFP expertise.

Hello.

Yes, you're right. When a .PRG is compiled, the result is .FXP. This file is used. The .PRG can be somewhere else, or even deleted from the disk. Visual FoxPro won't notice anything.

The same si valable for form, menus, classes and queries. Every of them have a "pair" file, except classes and forms, where the semicompiled code is stored in a memo field, named OBJCODE.

Hope this helps Grigore Dolghin
