Info Box At Start-Up

This probably isn't the right forum for this, but the others don't seem to be very active. Anyway here goes:

How do Macromedia (and anyone else for that matter) do that thing where when you launch their program, a little box appears in the middle of the screen with info on it before disappearing?
It happens with all the Macromedia programs and I was just wondering how they did it.

Well, it depends what language you are coding the software in. If they are coded in Visual C++, Visual Basic or something similar then it is very easy. In Visual Basic it would just be a form with the style set to flat, I guess it would be something similar in C as well.

Unfortunately I don't have a clue about most programming languages. I was hoping it'd be a simple thing...ah well, thanks anyway.
