I have the Info Agent set as a service to run automatically under the admin account on all my report servers. Recently, users have been complaining about not being able to view subreports in the Info Viewer.
When I have checked to see that the Info Agent service is running on the servers, there have been a few where it is not.
I would just like to clarify that the agent service should start (and stay started) when a server is booted. It is not started only it is required is it?
Has anybody else had problems with the agent dropping out?

Cheers

Steve

There could be a number of things that cause this behavior. My first thought is whether the Services were configured under a System Admin account or a Local Domain Admin account. The agent should be created under a Local Domain Admin account.

Check your Application Logs for those servers to see if you have any interesting error messages related to the Info Agent.

I think that the services may have been created under the system account and then moved over to the local domain admin account, but I cannot be sure.
I have been trying to remember the installation process for Seagate ie. does it prompt you for which account to use for the services?
If it does ask this then I will almost have certainly pointed it to use the local domain admin account.

Re: the application event logs - I had two servers which had dropped the agent service this morning. I could not find out at what time the service had dropped, but on both logs the last three messages were the same:

Event ID - 6000
Source - Seagate Info
Type - error
Category - job_processing
Description - ProcessJob(): Print job for viewing report(\\infoserver\si\output\~ci17ob2.rpt) fails with Error ()

I am thinking that a user has tried to drilldown to a subreport and this has somehow caused the agent to stop??
Am I just just trying too hard to find a link, or could it be a possibility?

As a further pice of information to the message above:
When users click on a sub-report in the Info Viewer the hourglass timer seems to sit there for 5-10 mins sometimes before the sub-report is opened up. The fact that this time is erratic makes the problem all the harder to try and pin down!!
