Can anybody recommend an inexpensive ETL tool to simply map from one delimeted ASCII file format to another. This is the kind of thin that could be done by writing a macro in Excel, but I´m looking for a tool that can make this even easier.

I normally use the awk unix command. It's easy and it's free!!

Thanks. I have used AWK, but its been a long time since I wrote any shell scripts. Does anybody know if there are versions of tools such as AWK available for a Windows NT platform ? Is there any freeware available ?

There is a new science for mapping taxonomy's. You could go the old route of profiling/analysis (Evoke Software) has a nice product, or use a product that will understand the interrelationships and provide a data navigation for you. Send me an email if you would like to know more. jmcdonald@endeca.com
