I would hope that the big players in this battle swing enough weight to get a definitive and precedent setting decision from the courts.
Things have been tending towards voiding non-competes and to do so here would be a good signal for worker's rights.

If this is so inevitable, then I would understand that it means it is a part of the playing field that a company must accept and deal with, like taxes. If it is inevitable, then there is no law that can protect against it.
