I am looking for a solution simular to the indirect function. I have timesheet db that has a field called
EmpDetail_PayPeriod (PP2007-1) and EmpDetail_PayPeriodStart (Sunday, 1/06/2007) . EmpDetail_PayPeriod is a combo box that contains a list of all pay periods for year 07.

I desire to be able to select a pay period and input automaticly it's corresponding start date into the EmpDetailStart field. There is a table that contains the pay period and start date information. Thank you for your help.

How are ya rossten4744 . . .

[blue]indirect function[/blue] is not a part of VBA! Perhaps you can describe it or the application where it resides?

The indirect function is an Excel function that returns a reference to a range entered as a text in a cell. (IMHO not much utility.)
I think what you are asking makes no sense in a relational database.

If I understand you correctly you have an Employees detail table with fields
EmpDetail_PayPeriod
EmpDetail_PayPeriodStart
and Probably EmpID

You also have a pay period referece table with fields like:
PayPeriod
PayPeriodStart

Since this is a relational database "PayPeriod" should be a primary key (assuming unique) in the pay period table. Then there is no reason to populate the payPeriodStart information into the Employees detail table, you only need to populate the EmpDetail_PayPeriod (foriegn key). Delete the field EmpDetail_PayPeriodStart, and show this information using a query.
