Indexing-Directory descriptions

Hi,
We use indexing of files and folders on our site and I am sorting them by description although I need to sort the directories as well as the files and haven't been able to find an option to add descriptions to directories so I can sort them. Or is there a way to get the months of the year to sort by how they fall and not the alphabetical standard>
