Index Tuning wizard, Profiler Event ID 998 Error

I am trying to run the Index Tuning wizard, and it fails with "The server returned an error attempting to optimize a query"

In the application log, it shows:

Anyone have any insight as to what causes this error? Any suggestions on how to find more information as to what is causing the error. I am using Sql Server 7.0 with SP3.

Microsoft had a couple links about this error code. I didn't read them all but it appears to be a known issue resolved in an SP. If it is causing a processes to fail I would suggest contacting them.
