Index Server Failing

We are running IIS 4.0 on NT 4, and i have just added the index server snap in into MMC, there are directories showing up in the directory view, under index server. When i try to run the example page (the one included in IIS) i get an error stating that "The content index is corrupt."

I have read a few articles that say that when i create a virtual directory the directory should appear in the indexed directories in index server in MMC, this is not happening.

Any ideas ???
