Hi guys,
I don't know why if i draw a 200x200 mm rectangle the dimmensions will change as i change the stroke. How do i set the preference so the rectangle always will have a the same dimmensions no matter the stroke i choose.

Thanks for any info!

S

By default the stroke is on the outside of the rectangle so thats why it adds size. On the stroke pallet you have option of the stroke being outside, centre, and inside. Select inside and your rectangle stays the same and the stroke is added to the inside size.

great answer samjoy. Thanks for the good info!
I will change it now.

Cheers,
S

...better to change the transform pallette flyout menu option to not include stroke weights...

...and in case anyone is wandering the flyout menus are those tiny arrows top right of palettes, making tiny bits of interface can be quite annoying to some users but tiny bits has become a bit of a trend with interface design...hit the right pixel and ye shall find the hidden treasures...
