Please help... I've had the same problem on two different computers, one is a Xeon and the other is a Pentium 4 3.06Ghz w/1G ram. Both run on Windows XP. I am using the CS2 suite. InDesign opens fine, but when I click on 'open', it just locks up, all my controls in InDesign are greayed out and there are no error message or anything. If I hit escape, it looks normal, but the same thing happens over and over. Dragging and dropping an ID CS2 file is the only way I found I could get a file to open. However, this brings me to my next major issue; I cannot save. I get the same issue as I did when trying to open. On the Xeon, I was able to fix it (until the next time) by deleting the recovery file, since this usually happened after a file crashed while trying to save or package a document. However, when I tried the same process on the Pentium 4, it would not work. So I've deleted the InDesign SavedData and the InDesign Defaults, and still I have the same problem. I do not have Virex installed, or any plug-ins. Please help! Thank you!

Sounds like you need to at least try an uninstall followed by a fresh install of ID. Make sure there are no virus checkers or any other similar program running during the installation. It may even be worthwhile installing in Safe Mode as this ensures there are no programs running in the background.
