I have been using Pagemaker 6.5 for sometime, but have had many problems since we do alot with Excel graphs. I have just updated my Pagemaker files to Indesign. Now my graphs look great; however, my Adobe 3.0 Tables now look awful and I didn't have a problem with them before. Indesign doesn't like the bold or italics and gives me an error msg about binary. My question is:

I tried exporting the Adobe tables as .emf files instead of .eps files. I'm not sure of the difference but they go in fine and print fine on the printer and as .pdf. So--I send this long document to press -- I have never used an .emf file before -- will it be okay with the printer?

Hi, joanmp,

My experience is limited with InDesign, but,

1. Forget Adobe Table.

2. Excel tables import quickly and accurately into InDesign, and can easily be edited within InDesign.

3. EMF = Enhanced MetaFile. Personally I avoid all varieties of metafiles when creating PDFs and use EPSs instead. My reasoning is based on this: Limitations of Metafile Formats (EMF, WMF) When Printing PostScript from PageMaker

I'll be interested to hear how you get on when you go to press.

Iechyd da! John
