Need help fixing InDesign slow process. It has probably been posted before but unable to find it. The larger the files with fonts & linked images, the slower it gets. I have read a few things - fonts, settings, hardware, etc., have checked all that, but the one that caught my attention is that it has something to do with a windows update but am unable to find which one it is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

You might try going to View Menu/Display performance and select Typical to see if that helps. If you select Optimized, you'll get boxes in place of the actual image. If you can live with that, it will help you speed.

You can make changes to the default Display performance by going to Display Performance in Indesign preferences.

If things still slow up, try running fewer apps at the same time. If that works, you could add more memory so as to run more apps simutaneously.

The default was set to typical & then changed to optimized & high quality. We have also tried InDesign with the document both on the network & on the local drive, with & without other apps running. All results are the same. The slow down mainly occurs when typing. Understandably, the larger the file, the more the fonts, the slower it gets, but this delay is pretty huge.
