I use ID CS 2 and the printer failed to output feathering and drop shadows from my PDF. I tried the pass4press.com settings which will print correctly to my PS3 laser printer but gave a NON Def error on their Highwater Python. I then saved to a postscript file and distilled it with Distiller 6 and the file rendered correctly. I would prefer to export direct to PDF from InDesign so pls any ideas what went wrong?

Can you print to PDF from InDesign? This is preferred over exporting as other issues like CID font encoding are avoided. Some RIPs choke on the CID font encoding from InDesign's PDF export.

Print to PDF resolves many issues.

Thanks for your reply. I was using the Export to PDF. I did Print to PS from the print dialog but not to PDF within the Apple Print dialog. It would be interesting to try that, but only when I next have access to the Highwater RIP.
