For those of you that have either added or deleted pages and ended up with a huge pasteboard, this is what I have discovered.... Some item or items have ended up at the upper or lower edge of the pasteboard and caused the pasteboard to change in size. Go through the entire document, SEARCH for the object(s) at the top or bottom edges of the pasteboard; move them to the space to the left or right of the document pages.
Now, go to the FILE menu items and select Page Setup. Change the height of your document by .05 (or other small number). Your pasteboard size will reset automatically. If it does not, it may be an object that is only showing in part and thus missed -- move that object and try again. EASY. Don't forget to go back in and correct your document height.

Or you can go to Edit>Preferences>Guides and Pasteboard to enlarge or reduce your pasteboard.

Thanks for the response Eugene,
In my GUIDES AND PASTEBOARD dialogue box, the 3 options for change are the "color", the "snap to zone" & the "minimum vertical offset".

I've found that with an object placed 5 inches above the document on the pasteboard, it's impossible to make it smaller until it's either removed or moved into the horizontal pasteboard space to the left or right of the document.
