Help. I need to figure out how to get tables into InDesign. I have some old version prior to 2.0 or CS. I cannot figure it out at all. If I place them into my file from word or excel they have no formatting wahtsoever.
Thanks

There is a table pallette in ID, but I haven't a clue how to use it.

I make tables in ExCel and then make the Excel file into a PDF.

Once I have the table as a PDF, I just file-place it into the layout.

Good luck!

Joe

If you have a table palette in InDesign then you do not need to make a PDF from Excel. Once you make a PDF, you cannot edit or format the data. Simply choose File>Place and locate your XLS file. This will place the editable spreadsheet into InDesign.

texasjoe's advice is good if you have InDesign 1.x
