indesign cs3 vs. quark 6.5

if we decided to go to indesign rather than upgrade to quark 7.0. would our old files go into indesign.
what problems would there be.
 
InDesign only opens files as recent as QuarkXPress 4. If you currently have QuarkXPress 6.5, you can only export down to QuarkXPress 5 format. You'd still be a step away (unless you still have QuarkXPress 5 licenses).

You can also look to Q2ID from markzware.com which will do the conversion for you.

Beware that conversions are never perfect.
