I'm new here so be gentle.
My G4 400MHZ has been upgraded, with 1.19GB of memory and soon I will add some more which should bring it up to 2GB I think.
Also have a quantum fireball BUS KX10.2 and an ATI Radeon 9000 pro to allow me to operate an Apple 23" display. OS 10.4.10. Hope that's enough info?
Here's my question.
I've installed Indesign CS3 and it works. But very slow.
Hopefully added the new additional mem will help but have I maxed out the machine with this product? Hope not, I have 90 pages of catalog to get out!

Or are there some other steps to take to save this G4

I doubt throwing more RAM at this will help. A better investment may be in a new system (even a newer used system would be good).

Adobe suggest masing out RAM for this, but your machine is pretty old.

If you have to get the job done, perhaps you could go back to the earlier version of ID that you were using.

If you don't want to fork out 2 grand for a new mac pro, you can taks a look at macmall.com and/or smalldog.com. They both had leftover imac 24 inch for about $1450 or so. You could also check the Apple online store. They usually have refurbs for a good savings with the same warranty as new. We've bough many Apple refurbs over the years and have had no problems.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4
