InDesign CS2 Library questions

When I pull an existing entry out of a library, the pictures are grayed out. What would cause this. The entry was created from an existing ID document and the links were up to date before creating the library.

Also is there a limit of how many entries can be in the library. Our library has grown very large and I am wondering if this could be causing some of our problems.

There are 20 macintosh computers in our group and all are running OS X 10.4.8. The files reside on a G4 xserve that is also running OS X 10.4.8 server.

If they're grayed out, it usually means that you have the display performance set to "optimized". See what happens if you raise it to typical or high quality.
