Hello all,
I did a quick search, but it does not appear this topic has been raised before.
I'm having two issues with InDesign CS2. Both involve operations using a Book file containing multiple files. The individual chapter files were converted from CS1 files. The issues are:
1) Preflight: Running a preflight on the book file results in multiple 'modified' links. So far, so good. However, if I click 'Repair All', the links are not actually updated, and remain 'modified.' The feature worked fine in CS1, but appears broken in CS2.
2) Printing Thumbnails: When I print thumbnails using the 'print book' feature, most (but not all) of the individual spreads in the thumbnail print have the (white of the paper) backgrounds converted to black. That is, wherever the white of the paper would show through on a page, there is now black. Again, this feature worked in CS1, but now appears to be broken in CS2.
I'm running a dual-processor G5 with Panther, 10.3.9, and 1.25Gb of RAM. The printer is a Xerox Docucolor 12 running an efi Splash G640 RIP.
Obviously I could update my links individually in each 'chapter' file, but that's a very slow workaround for my project, which by necessity contains a large number of chapters.
I'm also wondering if this is an InDesign CS2 bug, or a bad interaction between CS2 and Panther. Perhaps upgrading to Tiger would help, but I'll need some verification that this is likely to succeed in order to convince my IT department to do the upgrade.
