Any idea why a completely empty (no text, no graphic) InDCS2 file (one page only) is 720 KB in size? And how to make it smaller? Every now and then my editor seeks native InDesign file to do some text changes, so I'd like to keep it as small as possible (I need to email it to him).

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

A good chunk of that is simply the Header information

Document Properties
Color profiles
etc..

You may consider compressing your files before emailing.

Mac users can use Stuff-it
PC Users can use Win_Zip

Export it to a InDesign Interexchange file. It will be much smaller. The Interexchange file will open as an exact copy of your original indd file (without some bugs at times!) as an untitled document.
