Here's a bit of a mess: I'm attempting to open an InDesign file created in CS2 with CS4 (this has never been a problem in the past) but InDesign CS4 keeps crashing on trying to get the links.
Normally what I've done from the CS2 machine is to simply package everything up, transfer to a flash drive and work on it from the CS4 machine with no problem (all I'm attempting to do is copy and paste out the text from the CS2 multipage document).
This time, however, I'm out of town and someone at the CS2 machine has only sent me the document (no packaging). It seems like it's crashing when it's trying to collect the links. I've gone into Preferences > File Handling and turned OFF "Check Links Before Opening Document" and everything else under that.
Any ideas how to simply open this document to just be able to copy the text out of it?
Many thanks!
