Indesign back to Pdf?

If a file has been converted to a pdf from indesign but now the printer wants to make a change to the file back in indesign (not ai), can that be done? Or do we need to get him the indesign original files? He has all the linked images also.

So basically, if someone has the original images and a pdf, can the pdf be turned back into indesign. No right?
