Using InDesign 2.02. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add a new swatch library to an existing document. The document was created by a version of InDesign 2 that had minimal fonts in the default library. Therefore when the job opens it only has the same minimal fonts. I know it is possible to choose new colour swatch and then locate the required (larger) swatch library to load, but you have to load each swatch individually. Is there no way to add the complete new swatch library to the swatch pallette in one step?????

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Open your new ID doc. In the swatch window, click on the little triangle at top right and go to Load Swatches. Navigate to the old ID document and click Open. The swatches from the old doc will be added to the swatch window for the new one

Thanks for the help but unfortunately the 'load swatches' option isn't available in InDesign 2.02.

You can then make of copy of your old ID doc - with the swatches you want.

You can do one of 2 things. If it's long you can delete just about everything and save as a template. That'll preserve the swatches and little else.

You can save the whole thing as a template, and throw away stuff you don't want and save as an ID doc. That's easier on a short doc.

The reason I work off of copies is so that I don't accidentally foul up the original.

Thankyou very much, I'll give it a try. I think we'll be going to CS soon so this won't be any issue.

I would highly recommend that - major, major improvements and feature additions.
