Hello all! I've been trying to open a file I made in InDesign 2.0 for PC [I think it was version 2.0, I'm not sure] on InDesign CS for Macintosh, and it does not open at all. It shows an error msg saying: "generic page item" & "cannot open ____.indd. please upgrade your plugins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign". What should I do? I have InDesign CS 3.0.1. Thanks!

If you used 3rd party plugins on the ID 2 doc, ID 3 will be looking for those when it attemps to open the ID2 doc. If they're not in your ID3 folder, ID3 will get mad at you and ask for them. If you don't have them, it's a problem.

When you try to open the ID 2 in ID3, use the File/Open command. To make sure the doc is in fact an ID2, right click on it and Get Info. If you still have access to the old machine and ID2, check to see what's in there.

If you can get it open, immediately save as an ID3 doc.

thanx, i'll try this and let you know if it worked. ;)
