OK, I'm not exactly sure what I need to do is called.

I basically have an Oval (transparent fill, thick coloured stroke), I want to cut or crop the Oval so that appears as a crescent (or half oval), later I will be adding an image behind it so that this will become a frame.

How do I do this cropping of the oval?

Your help and wisdom is appreciated.

Ellipse tool 2 times, align them as you want, select both, go to pathfinder tool, apply "substract" Done!

Pathfinder was introduced in InDesign CS, not InDesign 2.

Check the manual and help files under the 'Drawing' section. I'd still start with the ellipse tool and then edit its points.

Thanks all, I think I realised that using the pen to draw a curve was/is a better approach to this problem, so I have done it that way ... thanks for all your help ... it did lead me down this new path.
