Hello everyone!

I really enjoy this site because it's very helpful.

I'm going to a customers tomorrow to add some additional station ports to their existing MICS phone system. This will be the first time that I've performed such a task on this system. I'll be picking up a 2 port fiber expansion card and a 0x16 fiber station module. Here's my question. Just to make sure that this is done right, what steps should I take to perform this task?
Is it simply shutting down the system, installing the card and module, and then bringing the system back up?

Your expertise is appreciated!

It's as easy as that.

you will notice there will be a big gap in the DN numbering. This normal. The first DN of your expansion will be 285. This because each port is assigned 2 DN's (B1 and B2). Port 101 has 221 and 253, port 132 (the last port on the 0x32) has 252 and 284.

You can use the change DN feature or a RESTART to renumber in order.

Thank you so much guys. I'll let you know how it works out tomorrow!

Thanks again!

Hello Everyone!

Just an update and a thank you!

Last week I installed a 2 port fiber expansion card and a 0x16 fiber station module. Once I had everything connected I noticed that the Nortel T7316e that I had connected to one of the new ports wasn't coming up properly. The red light on the phone kept flashing rapidly. I tried a few things but to no avail. I eventually got in touch with Roy from All World Telecom. He suggested that the equipment might be faulty. Based on his opinion I went back to my supplier and and replaced the expansion card and the station module. Would you know? IT WORKED!!!!!

Thanks again to all of you who helped me out. It goes to show that new or referb equipment is not always reliable.
