My Outlook (2003/ XP Pro) is running up against the 2 GB size limit.

I have read of some way to increase it to 20 GB by copying the .pst file to a different format/directory (?)

Do you know how I would do that?

Hi, egate1

Check this: thread68-1208625

Did you upgrade to 2003 from 2002 or use the PST files from 2002? If so the PST may still be in the ANSI format and still subject to the 2gb limit, and you will have to create a new-format PST and import everything into it from the old one.

Thanks Jock. I did upgrade from 2000 when I got this new machine. What do I do to change the format of the files?

I don't think you can change the format, but you should be able to create a new file and move everything to it.

Keep in mind that the bigger that file gets, the more likelyhood of corruption. And, there aren't too many tools to fix that.

If you're using Exchange, it makes more sense to keep email in the Exchange mailbox than in .pst files.
