I have a package that deletes a dBase IV file. Creates a new one then copies about 6000 records into it from a SQL Server 2000 table. The reason I delete and create is because there may be new fields on the SQL Server table.

This process takes a long time to run. Is it because I am copying to dbase or is there something I can do to improve the performance of this package?

Thanks in advance

Are you deleting the table or truncating it? I don't know if dBase has Tuncate or something similar, but it is what I use when deleting tables in SQL Server when I'm not worried about logging the deletions.

Also, ar you inserting as a set, or looping the insert? Or using bulk insert?

DSN or ADO connection? I tend to prefer the latter.

I'm giving you my experience with SQL to SQL or SQL to Oracle. I've never used dBase.
