increase partition on a raid 1

Hi,
we have a server with a "Symbios Ultra3 PCI SCSI Adapter; 53C1010-66 Device" controller.
there are two 18GB disks build as a raid 1.
Unfortunately the first partition is near full so i have to increase it.
And now my question:

Do i have to renew the raid 1 mirror with a new, lowlevel formated disk?
