I have 200MB space in root file system Now I want to increase this file system upto 800MB.I have more than 600MB free space is available on another file system.
Can anybody tell me how can i add that free space on root file system?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Ajay Lohani

Probably reconfigure the filesystem would be your best bet.

Hello badco,
Thanks for your reply, but I have very critical data on that file system. If I changed this it will be lost.
Is any utility or tools which can increase the file system
without losing any DATA.

Thanks
Ajay Lohani

I believe you can use this (but I havn't tried myself )
Solaris UFS filesystems can be extended using mkfs -M (for mounted filesystem or
mkfs -G ( if unmounted )

Hi mikeclark,

AS I know and have a experience about mkfs command. This will
create new file system and lost the entire existing data.
Can you give me more idea?

Thanks,
Ajay Lohani

If you back up (ufsdump etc...) filesystem and then reconfigure you will not lose any data.

Thanks, it does work Fine.

Thanks Again,

Ajay
