not so long ago i reduced the acceleration features of my graphics card to try and fix a problem with my display, this did not work and i have put the graphics card acceleration back up to the full.

However evbery time i do this the machine needs to restart to let the changes take effect, however every time it restarts after increasing the acceleration windows encounters bad registry details. The computer restarts again and goes to the registry checker, here it fixes the problem (so it says) and restarts again, from this restart instead of going to windows it runs registry checker again and does the same thing, it gets stuck in this loop.

The only way that i have found to get windows loading is to use the windows start up disk and reinstall windows which is v.time consuming and does not fix the problem as the graaphics acceleration is put back down to where it was!!

i have a rage pro turbo AGP 2x graphics card and windows 98se.

Thanks for any help in advance, please keep replys as easy to follow as possible :)

Have you tried another video card? And also I would try different RAM. RAM is known to cause registry errors when it goes bad. Try different RAM and Video then let us know how it goes. James Collins

Try setting the display so you don't have to restart. Control Panel>Display>Advanced>Apply new color settings without restarting.
