Has anyone else had a problem with their report totals not adding correctly. I have a distinct count in a group of a specific field and I copied the distinct count (of the same field) to the report footer, so that it would total everything in the list. This is not working.

When I query each field independently, it shows the right field distinctcount and the right grand total in the report footer. When I choose to show all fields in the group, they total right in the group section, but the report total is off.
Is there something that I can do to fix this?

For example:

AGENCY: NPD TOTAL:123 (THESE INDIVIDUAL TOTALS ARE RIGHT)
AGENCY: GPD TOTAL:210 (THESE INDIVIDUAL TOTALS ARE RIGHT)
AGENCY: SPD TOTAL:050 (THESE INDIVIDUAL TOTALS ARE RIGHT)

REPORT TOTAL:400 (THIS IS THE INCORRECT, BUT HAS THE EXACT SAME DISTINCT COUNT AS ABOVE)

I do not know what you are counting on. But if somehow the item you are counting on could be in two groups, then your total distinct count will be off.

I hope this helps.

I am counting each booking arrest in a date range for each agency. The distinct count for each agency is correct, but the grand total of arrest for all of the agencies is incorrect. I'm using the exact same count for the groups v/s the grand total. That's why I can't understand why it isn't counting correctly.

how many groups do you have and which group levels are your distinct counts being done on?

I'm counting the number of times a person was booked into jail during a date range for each agency that brings someone to our county jail.

The formula that I use to get my unique count by arrest is:

TOTEXT({ActiveBookings.book_id},0,"")+TOTEXT({ActiveBookings.date_arr},'yyyyMMdd')

I have one group (Arresting Agency)

I'm using distinctcount to count the results, of my formula, for each agency and the report grand total.

Maybe this makes better sense. Thank you for your time in trying to help.

Do you have any suppression formulas for groups or for records?
