C Enterprise & Reports V10.

On running a report instance in C Ent I get the message

instance Failed
"Unable to connect: incorrect log on parameters."

Now fistly this report connects to an Access Db on
another network domain to the server where C Ent resides.

When I view the report in Crystal on my PC and (on the
same domain as the Db) the connection works fine, I am
using a udl on the C Ent Server (jet.oledb.4.0 provider)

There is no password set on the db and permissions seem
ok on the db folder?

My feeling is that this is a domain userid/password
issue for C Ent but because I had to logon to the
other domain when i created the udl i thought this would
not be an issue.

can anyone make a suggestion.. Thanks

Hi,
The CE services ( at a minimum, the pageserver and jobservers) must be running under a domain account that has access rights to the location of the database.

Turkbear,
This is just what I wanted to hear, I will investigate
this, many thanks.

Chris

Turkbear,
does this imply that the server on which CE is running
must be part of that other domain (which is not allowed)
or is there a way round this?
thanks

Chris

I have stopped the 'Report Job Server', unset
the 'system account flag' and tried to reset the
account to one on the other domain.

However, when I browse 'users' and try to
change domain I get the message:

'Could not find the domain controller for the domain'

This is not my territory, why can't these domains
speak to one another, what's going on? any ideas?
Thanks

Chris

Hi,
The user can be created in the Domain where the Server is located and then that user must be given rights to the other Domain to access the database server.
Or it could be created in the other domain, (in which case you would use Domain/Username not just Username)
Have the Domain admin(s) set it up..
( It does mean that the server running the services must be able to'see' objects and users in that other Domain).

Over to the Domain Administrators
Many Thanks
