Setting up a new netware server the setup process identifies a 20GB IDE hard drive as only 8GB. How can I get around this?

sounds like the 8.4GB disk size limitation of older IDE drivers (SCSI never had this limitation).
Get an updated IDE disk driver.

Does the BIOS see the 20Gb disks or does it see an 8Gb disk

Yep, it's the 8GB limit on IDE drives that's causing the problem - sorted! I've gone to SCSI to fix this.

Thanks
