I am getting incorrect summary values in an Access 97 report. I created a basic summary report using the Wizard to start with and customizing from there. I am trying to summarize records by year using the Year builtin function and the totals generated are incorrect and/or do not include all years that should be represented. I've checked the microsoft web site for known problems but didn't find anything. Any ideas?

Hi,
I believe there is a better solution to your problem. First, in your report, go to the View menu and select Sorting and Grouping. Select the field you want to group by (e.g., Year). In Sorting and Grouping, you can select the "sort order", as well as decide whether you want a Group Header or a Group Footer. Your post sounds like you would like to have a Group Footer, so that you can get the totals you want. Here is what your text box will look like (as a Control Source) in your footer, presuming that your field is called "fldSalesAmt" from the detail section:
=Sum([fldSalesAmt]) If this tip has been helpful, be sure to click on the "Mark this post as a helpful/expert post!".
