Lo there

I'm trying to utilise a global variable via a dynamic property butI'm not sure where it sits in the workflow.

i.e.

I have an
Excel connection > Transformation > DbConnetion_Destination

This is exactly what you would expect from a DTS package saved from the wizard

But, How do I incorporate my dynamic property (with it's global) to ensure that the filename changes when I use DTSRun?

At the moment it will just keep on importing the file specified in the Excel connection.

Is it me or is help on this subject a bit hazy???

Really appreciate your replies - as always

are you passing the Dynamic filename from an outside source via a parameter through the DTSRun?

Once you create a a Dynamic Property task do the following:

1. Create and Set your Global Variable
2. Add a property to the Dynamic Property Task
3. Drill down to connections
4. double click the datasource fo the Excel connection
5. set source to Global Variable
6. choose your global variable

Don't know if you have to set a workflow on it or not, but if you do set it to start on the Dynamic and on completion point it to the Source Connection

Thanks a lot for that j. I've got it all up and running - I did put in an on-success workflow.

cheers again
