Hello All.

My question: is there a way to have bold or italic formatting built into a formula so that the value will display with bolding or Italic?

Example:

=SC!C33&" programs organized efforts around Advocating for Policy Changes or New Legislation, accounting for "&SC!B33&" events or occurrences. "

This formula is designed to pull numbers in to complete the sentence. I need the number (cell references) to be bold and I need "Advocating for Policy Changes or New Legislation" to be italicized.

I'm using Microsoft Office 2003 and this statement will be used in a mailmerge into word.

Formulas cannot change the formatting of a cell. They only determine what is displayed, not how it is diplayed.

That is what I suspected but I've been suprised in the past at what some people can acomplish in Ecxel so I thought I'd put it out there....

Thanks!

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

BTW: If you are not already familiar with it, you should look into conditional formatting. It can reformat entire cells based on a criteria. But, unfortunately, it cannot format individual words within a cell as you want to do.
