My database is at an inconsitent state, I am not sure if I should restart computer. I just created it from a backup. The database seems to be working fine but am unable to create a new backup.

Have I missed a process after the backup in order to remove the current state from "Inconsistent"

Any help would be appreciated.

Database is not consistent - indicates that a transaction is pending or some other task is pending on the database and the data is not consistent at this point.

When you restored the database from a backup what options did you use? [offline/online? WITHOUT ROLLING FORWARD? etc..]

Do a "list tablespaces" and check if any of the tablespaces are in rollforward pending state.

What is the error that you are getting when you try to take a backup?

rbod, thanks for the response, I am new to db2.

I did the list and all tablespaces returned "normal"

The backup I used ...

RESTORE DATABASE CRM FROM "F:\db2backup\databackup08252005\

If you could connect to the database after restored it, the restore operation went alright.

Did you perform any transactions[insert, update..] on the database after the restore?

How did you find out that the database is inconsistent?
Did you do a "get db cfg " and check the "Database is consistent" parameter?

What is the error that you are getting when you try to take a backup?

It is ok now, after I restarted server I have no error, the original error occured when I tried to backup the db.

I am now able to back up the database.

Thanks for your help
