I have a client who is experiencing problems with network connectivity.
He has a win2k pro workstation on which he has some software running which he would like to access accross the network. From some PC's the app server PC is not accessible and cannot be pinged by name or by IP address. This appears to be random and changes from day to day.
We have discovered however that if you ping PCs which cannot connect from the app server workstation then return to them they are now able to connect.
Ive advised the client to change to a static IP addrees, which didnt seem to help. Im not aware of any firewall or packet filtering software running on any of the PC's. The network is 192.168.1.0 / 24 and both the server pc and the client pcs are DHCP. All workstations are win2k pro. The network is very small and has less than 20 hosts all wired into the same netgear switch.
Any thoughts? Help would be appreciated.
