I have an intermittent problem with the registry checker on my Dad's machine....Frequently when I install/uninstall a program or a piece of hardware, and the system requires a restart--registry checker kicks in, restores a good, (but old) registry and the process of installation/uninstallation is not finished.
I guess this is because the registry is checked on startup and an old registry is restored that does not include changes made to the system during the process of installation/uninstallation.
Somehow the registry checker keeps appearing in msconfig/startup...how?
I do not have this problem on other computers even when installing the same OS.
Would it help to disable registry checking on startup?...would I then not have to enable it after any install's/uninstall's are complete?...
Is the registry normally checked every startup and why do I not have the same problem on other machines?...
This problem seems peculiar to my Dads machine and has cropped up even b4 windows has completed installing as well as with installation/uninstallation ofsmaller programs and hardware.
