I'd like to setup 2 mail servers, one for out going and the other for incoming. the problem I'm having is that th eoutgoing mail server doesn't put the local mail on the incoming mail server. What am I doing wrong?

How is the local mail addressed? Is it to user@serverName or is user@InternetDomainName where the domain name is a valid domain name? If it's going to a valid domain name, I would ask if the DNS is configured so that the Internal mail server is listed as the mail exchanger for the domain name. If it's the former, I think you can fix it by enabled the virtusertable and using it to re-direct mail to the incoming server.

Let me know and I can send you appropriate info if you need.
