incoming mails showing up as "read"

we have notes 6.5.1 clients and domino 6.5 server. one of our user is having a problem on his laptop (he replicates his emails) which is that any new unread email instead of coming in "red" color is showing up in "black" like it has been read.

how to fix this prob?

Does the mailbox of that user have the "Don't maintain unread marks" option checked in the Database Properties ? If so, anyone else able to open the mail will not see any unread either.

If unread are being properly handled on the server, It must be an issue with his client setup.

Try erasing the cache.ndk files when Notes is not running to see if there is any change.
