I was wondering if anyone can help with Outlook 97!!

At work, we have a departmental e-mail address which is managed by 1 person. That person would like to be able to have some kind of notification that new mail has arrived for that mailbox (currently only gets notification for their own mailbox).

Is there any way of setting Outlook to alert this person when new mail has arrived in the 2nd mailbox (as this needs acting on immediately)?

I would be grateful for any suggestions (not being a whizz on this!!)

Cheers NKA

Thanks guys!

Both suggestions were good. I cannot believe I missed the Rules one though!

Didn't curiosity kill the cat? .... That'll be my downfall too! ;-)

Uh-oh! :-(

I tried the Rules one, thinking it would work... but it didn't!

I wonder if this is because I didn't have my facts straight in the first place. The secondary mailbox is actually accessed by 3 people.

I have a secondry mailbox myself which points to my normal mailbox, so the Rules Wizard works fine - but the difficulty comes when the mailbox has multiple users.

Any other suggestions?? NKA

The answer's always easy - if you know it! ;-)

I also have a similar problem, OL2000 client connecting to exchange server 5.5, Have my primary mailbox which notifies me properly however I have several other departmental shared mailboxes. I would like to be notified when mail arrives in these. Notification only seems to work on primary mailbox. Rules do not apply to the shared mailboxes.
I have checked slipstick and did not find anything, I will look again. also would like this to be freeware.

Thanks in advance for any help

...Just to add to the confusion of my original request, I have found that some staff have Outlook 97 and some have Outlook 2000 - this particular member is in fact using Outlook 2000 (not 97 as originally stated).

I have encountered the same problems as wojo - rules not working on shared mailboxes. I would also like the solution to be freeware. :-D
