We operate a Norstar Meridian system, and have just changed phone line suppliers.

With my old supplier, they had a hunt group facility whereby at the telephone exchange calls would skip onto alternate lines if those lines were busy. e.g. our primary number is 288 7013, if that number was busy, the call would automatically skip to 288 7017 and so on. We have 4 lines in total.

The new supplier does not automatically supply this feature. If someone call 288 7013 and that line is busy, the caller will get a busy signal.

I have been lead to believe that the Norstar system should be able to do something similar internally.

I would appreciate any information relating to this and to how incoming line groups should be set up as I have inherited a system that is not set up as well as it should be.

The 4 lines are set up in an outgoing pool, and an ILG. But I don't know how to handle incoming calls to avoid a busy tone.

Thanks in advance.

There should be no problem setting this up through your bell company and the Norstar system will not do this for you. The charge should be minimal to have a roll over group from your phone company.

If you have centrex you can either set up thru centres admin or just forward each number to the number you want to be next in line. you would have to get the forward codes from your telco though. JerryReeve
