Hi everyone,

I have finally set up a document library to receive emails. Most of the emails that we receive have pdf attachments along with some sort of message in the body of the email. Sharepoint separate the email from the attachment which in some cases a good thing and in some cases not. I know that you can set up sharepoint to put emails with the same subject or sender in the same folder, but is there any other way of knowing which email correlates to which attachment considering that we receive tons of emails each day.

Thanks

A very good question and one to which I'd love to know the asnwer too. I had vaguley thought about some kind of workflow that triggers when the email arrives (just at the point SharePoint splits it into two documents) but I don't know how feasible that is.

Yeah it's kind of problematic...the only thing that i have come up with so far is that when a file is created (whether uploaded or received by email), it is assigned a unique ID number. You can edit your view and add the ID column to your view. So then the way you would know which email related to which attachment is that the ID number of an email is always one less than the ID number of the attachment. For instance if you were looking at an email with ID number of 55, you would look for attachment with ID number 56. But I wish there was an easier way of knowing...
