Hello,

I have a Magix system with the Merlin Messaging card. Sometimes (1 out of 20) calls, whether they come in on local POTS lines or T1 (DNIS) they will immediately route to a random extension and not go to the auto attendant. It is not port specific on the voicemail or to any of the autoattendants or incoming lines and voicemail ports are idle. This problem has been happening for a while. Example: Local line comes in and is supposed to go to the company autoattendant. After 15 or more test calls, I call the number and it immediatley rings Greg's phone at extension 147. Any ideas?

Could be the T-1, in that they are not sending the expected number of digits. Sometimes if you are expecting 3 digits, and they send 4 (or 5 or 6 or 7) they will misroute. It's probably not actually random, but doing something that is expected under the circumstances. What is an example of the dialed number and the extension that it mis-routes to?

Thank you,

The T1 is configured for D4, AMI, wink start with four digit DNIS. The toll free is 888-244-0925 and the digits I receive are 2925 which route to a calling group (with no members) which sends it to voicemail. There is a voicemail extension built to the auto-attendant.

Some times the caller has been routed to 147, 181, 100, etc. and they went straight there without even hitting the auto-attendant.

I also have this problem on the local loop start trunks.

Thanks for your email!

Do you have other calling groups in use other than the voice mail? What do 147, 181, and 100 have in common? Something, I'll bet. Are the calls coming directly to these extensions, or being forwarded, or on some type of coverage? What extension is the call answer operator? If this is happening on the loop start trunks, as well, it's probably related to the voice mail system, rather than the T-1. Recheck the members of the voice mail calling group. Could they be 147, 181, and 100?

Thank you Pepperz,

I'll confirm and post back.

Thanks!

Keith

Better yet, if you could e-mail me the configuration from a backup .ams file. I'll give it a look. It wuld be better than piecemealing it together.
